What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Media

We always try to avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. This is to prevent visitors to the website from downloading and extracting any location data from images on the website.

Forms

We collect personal data from our users via forms on this website, and by allowing users to register for our Members Area.

When someone submits a form to us, this may include the following types of data:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Contact details (including postal and email addresses and telephone numbers)
  • Medical requirements

This data is collected on our Contact form is to enable us only to respond to an enquiry.

The data collected in our Registration form is to help us share detailed information about our Unit and activities with members of the Unit, their parents, Leaders and Managers of Shipton ESU. We may also share this information elsewhere in Scouting.

How long we retain your data

Registered user information is retained in the website’s database. We will only retain your data for as long as it is appropriate for us to do so. If you have made an enquiry via our Contact form we will remove your data once your enquiry has been concluded. If you have registered for our Members Area we will retain your data for as long as you remain involved with Shipton ESU or Scouting in South West Cheshire. All registrations for the Members Area are subject to approval, to ensure that only members of the Unit, their parents, Leaders and Managers of Shipton ESU can access certain pages of this website. If we reject your registration for this site, then your details will be deleted from our database.

Where we send your data

Your data will only be shared with relevant local Scout Groups as necessary to answer an enquiry. Your data will not be used for marketing purposes. If you do not wish for your details to be passed on, you may tick the “I do not consent” box on our Contact form. This may mean however that we will be unable to assist with your enquiry.

Cookies

If you have an account for our Members Area and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
